domoredesign.com is a web based design platform on a mission to connect UK design students and recent graduates to small businesses who need good design assets.
With over 600,000 businesses starting in the UK every year, its becoming increasingly difficult to gain traction in most markets without spending vast amounts of capital on design assets. Problem 1.
The UK produces brilliant design students and graduates who have been trained or are currently in training. They are at the sharp end of understanding trends, new techniques and new software. But above all, as with any designer, they are keen to showcase their developing talent. However, career progression is based on real commercial experience.
At the start it’s a catch 22 – can’t get a design job without experience, can’t get experience without a design job. Problem 2.
One problem serves the other – connecting the freshest UK wide design talent with small businesses fills both of these issues – domoredesign fills this space in it’s current guise as a business logo maker, a unique logo generator, a place for different concept ideas, a platform that connects the small business community to the freshest UK wide design talent on offer.
For years Universities have invested purposefully in the training of UK design students. With approximately 30,000 design students graduating in the UK each year so there is a wealth of talent to support and develop. Due to the fast moving development of technology and software, up to date training is paramount across the design industry. Not to continue beating about the bush, but students and graduates are the future UK design trend setters. Having a designer who understands the current landscape, the most popular trends as well as cultural sensitivities is of massive value.
Working in the way that we do means that the platform will constantly evolve with the additions of fresh design talent year on year, changes in software and tech and of course the needs of small businesses as they develop will lead the addition of further services (watch this space domoredesign 2.0 lands in 2019).
Championing UK Small Business
Small businesses are the life-blood of the UK. Literally, they represent 99% of all private sector businesses. As a small business ourselves we understand the burden of red tape as well as the expense and time resource in trying to grow a business. It’s tough and any support is usually very welcome. We like to create content around digital marketing, traditional marketing and free assets that can support promotional activity it’s worth checking out the rest of our articles. We also love it when the businesses who work with us reach out. We do our utmost to support them, and if we can support their promotion in any way, then we are open to ideas.
However, predominantly our main aim is for our clients to enjoy an easy and low cost business logo making process where they can get a wide choice of unique quality logos to choose from.
The Cost Of A UK Logo
If you have already carried out some research you would have found that there is wide array of costs. From online platforms to design agencies. Most design agencies in the UK charge a premium for their experience, and quite rightly. They will usually have a number of marketing professionals with a vast amount of knowledge and creative directors who have worked across a broad spectrum of industry. Therefore the wealth of this knowledge will be injected in to the project and its outcomes. The domoredesign logo platform relinquishes the creative directional responsibility to the client. You work with real UK designers as oppose to robots, but as the client you choose the designs that best fit you as a company and feedback to the designers. Essentially, you are the creative director for your project.
How Does A Small Business Benefit When Using Domoredesign?
Aside from the low cost, small businesses get a load of choice. As the submissions come in feedback can be given. ‘Yeah, I like it but does it come in green’, ‘love the icon, but can try a more modern, fatter font?’ etc etc. It’s a quick process too, projects are set at ten days as standard, the turnaround from project launch to receiving the selected entry artwork suite is usually delivered in that time. The artwork suite contains the AI file as well as JPG, Hi-res PDF and transparent PNG so the small business is ready to crack on with their marketing and promotion both online and offline.
What’s The Process?
On the domoredesign homepage is a button that says get started. Click this and fill in the easy to use design brief. Paying the price of £229 launches the project. No fear, this fee is held in escrow, if you don’t find three designs you want to take forward to the final after 7 days you can claim your money back. However to get the best out of the process we recommend giving good feedback to the designers that have grabbed your attention within the initial 7 days (round one). This will not only help to steer the direction but it will also encourage further submissions. After the first round (7 days) the client will receive an email to choose their favourite 3 designs. This will start the final whereby only the selected designers will be able to continue to submit. The final round last for 3 days and, like the first round the client will receive an email at the end to select the winning entrant. Finally the designer will upload the suite of artwork and the project is complete.
It is incredible what a new logo can do for a small business. It generates noise around the business both externally and internally. It demonstrates direction, something to get behind, a future and of course is the face of the brand.
